Essentials of the Faith:

The following list includes what OneWay Christian Church (OWCC) believes to be the essentials of the faith and that these essentials cannot be compromised or amended in any way.
On the firm foundation of the inerrant, infallible, and sufficient Word of God, which includes the completed 66 books of the Old and New Testament, we hold fast to these essentials of faith:
-
OWCC believes in the One True God, who is the sovereign Creator and Sustainer of all things. He is perfect and eternally existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Hebrews 1:10; Colossians 1:16-17; Revelation 4:11; John 1:3; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Matthew 3:16-17; 1 Peter 1:2)
-
OWCC believes Jesus Christ is the living Word, and He became flesh through the miraculous conception by the Holy Spirit and His virgin birth. He who is fully God became fully man and is united in one Person forever. (John 1:1-2; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:14; Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 3:16)
-
OWCC believes Jesus Christ died a perfect death on the cross as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 2:2; Hebrews 9:22; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24)
-
OWCC believes on the third day He arose from the dead in a glorified body, and after 40 days He ascended into heaven, where He now sits at the right hand of the Father, and He is now our High Priest and Mediator. (John 11:25; 1 Peter 1:3; Romans 8:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:14; Philippians 3:20-21; Acts 1:3; Hebrews 1:3, 4:14-16)
-
OWCC believes the Holy Spirit has come to glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Jesus Christ to the hearts and souls of God’s people. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin and draws us to the Savior. (John 3:5-8,14:26,16:8; Romans 8:26)
-
OWCC believes the Holy Spirit dwells in the hearts of Believers, and He gives us new life. The Holy Spirit empowers and blesses Believers with gifts to serve for the glory of God. He enlightens, instructs, and leads us into all truth, and graciously seals us for the day of redemption. (John 14:26; Galatians 5:22-23; Acts 2:38; 1 Corinthians 6:19,12:4-11; Isaiah 11:2; Titus 3:5)
-
OWCC believes all of man is separated from God and condemned due to our sinfulness. Our salvation is wholly dependent upon the work of God’s free gift of grace. (1 Corinthians 15:22; Romans 5:12,6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; Jeremiah 17:9)
-
OWCC believes God pours His righteousness into those who repent of their sin and place their faith and trust in Christ alone for their salvation, which in turn brings justification. (Titus 3:7; 1 Corinthians 6:11; Philippians 3:9; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 John 2:29,3:7)
-
OWCC believe it is only those whom by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone are born of the Holy Spirit and receive Jesus Christ and become children of God and receivers of eternal life. (Romans 3:24,8:16; Psalm 3:8; Ephesians 2:8; Mark 16:16; 1 John 3:1; John 1:12,3:5)
-
OWCC believes the True Church is comprised of all people who have a saving faith in Christ Jesus and are being sanctified by the Holy Spirit, and they make up the unified body of Jesus Christ, who is the Head of the Church. (Matthew 16:18; Colossians 1:18; Acts 2:38; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 1 Corinthians 6:11; 1 Corinthians 12:12; Romans 12:5)
-
OWCC believes the visible Church is imperfect, but is commanded to gather to encourage, build up one another, and to worship God in song, prayer, and in the receiving of the preached Word of God, which is done so with integrity and purity. (Romans 7:14-17; Hebrews 10:24-25; 1 Peter 2:2-5; 1 Thessalonians 5:11; Acts 2:42)
-
OWCC believes the local Church is to administer the two ordinances that Jesus Christ instituted in Scripture – Baptism and Communion. (Acts 2:38; Matthew 28:19; 1 Corinthians 11:26; Luke 22:19-20)
-
OWCC believes the local Church is to engage in and practice biblical discipline, fellowship, and tending to the needs of those in the body of Believers. (Matthew 18:15-20; Hebrews 12:11; Acts 2:42; 1 John 1:7; Acts 4:34; Galatians 6:9-10)
-
OWCC believes Jesus Christ will return to the earth to judge the living and the dead, and to consummate history and the eternal plan of God. (Revelation 1:7; Hebrews 9:28; 1 Thessalonians 5:2; 2 Timothy 4:1)
-
OWCC believes our Lord Jesus Christ commands all believers to proclaim and witness to the Gospel throughout the world and to make disciples of all nations. This discipling is to have all Believers teaching others what Jesus Christ has commanded of us and is found in Scripture. (Matthew 28:19-20; Romans 10:14-17; 2 Corinthians 5:20)
-
OWCC believes Believers are to first love the Lord with all our hearts and secondly to love thy neighbor as thyself. (Deuteronomy 6:5; Luke 10:27, Mark 12:30-31)
-
OWCC believes forgiveness plays a critical role in the life of a believer, just as Christ has forgiven us. (Psalm 103:12; Ephesians 4:32; Matthew 5:43-48,6:14,18:21-22; Colossians 3:13)
-
OWCC believes the Word of God, which is uniquely and fully inspired by the Holy Spirit, is the supreme and final authority on all matters on which it speaks. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; John 1:1-2; 2 Peter 1:21; John 17:17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; Matthew 4:4)
